The Cullavagga, the Less or Lesser Division of the Vinaya, consists of twelve Sections. The first three of these have been translated by H. ldenberg and T. W. Rhys Davids in Sacred Books of the East, Volume XVII, 1882, and the remaining nine in S.B.E., Volume XX, 1885. The Pali Vinaya on which their translation as well as mine is based is that edited by Oldenberg in 1880 as Volume II of his Vinaya Piṭakaṃ. It includes 12 subtitles: I. On Formal Acts ; II. On Probation; III. On Accumulation (of Offences); IV. On Settlements; V. On Minor Matters; VI. On Lodgings; VII. On Schism; VIII. On Observances; IX. On Suspending the Pātimokkha; X. On Nuns; XI. On the Five Hundred; XII. On the Seven Hundred. Indexes in this book are 1. Words and Subjects; 2. Names; 3. Some Pali Words discussed in the Notes; and 4. Titles of Works abbreviated in Footnotes.
