This book is a translation of two texts from the Khuddakanikāya in the Suttapiṭaka of the Pali Canon: the Vimānavatthu (Stories of the Mansions) and the Petavatthu (Stories of the Departed). It provides a new translation of the verses from these texts, along with excerpts from their commentaries. The Vimānavatthu text consists of 83 stories describing the former meritorious actions that have led to individuals being reborn as gods enjoying life in celestial mansions (vimānas). The Petavatthu consists of 51 stories about departed ones (petas) who suffer because of bad action in former lives. This edition is a valuable resource for scholars and practitioners, offering insights into Buddhist ethics, karma, and cosmology.
